2009/48/CE Directive - Toy safety

Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/CEC applies to any product designed or intended for use in play by children under the age of 14 years, the Directive determines the safety criteria and essential requirements which toys must meet at the time of manufacture and before being placed on the market.

The manufacturer or importer of toys must meet the essential requirements, referred to above, by testing the products  in accordance with harmonized standards of product and performing a risk analysis for safety before they can affix the CE marking on products.

CSI, as a Certification Body accredited and notified, can attest to the conformity to the essential requirements of toys through the activities of testing laboratories and, when applicable, to issue the CE type-examination certificates.
