Marine Equipment (MED)
MED Directive 96/98/CE – Marine equipment (MED)
CSI works in the field of CE marking of the main marine equipment listed in the category fire protection equipment of MED Directive.
MED Directive 96/98/EC (and further updates) concerns all the equipment and the materials intended to be used on board the marine ships (warships excluded). It refers either to radio communication and navigation equipment, interior fitting materials for ships, or equipment for fire protection. The distinguishing mark is a "little rudder".
The technical regulations applicable to marine equipment are very complex as they take into account three normative Bodies: SOLAS convention, IMO (International Maritime Organization) resolutions and EN Standards (European).
The certification of the marine products carried out by the Notified Bodies applies the Forms of the Directives based on the new approach.
CSI is a Notified Body (European number 0497) for MED Directive by the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transports - Comando Generale del Corpo delle Capitanerie di Porto for the main equipment listed in Annex A of MED Directive and issues certificates according to procedures provided for in Modules B, D, E and F.
